The arrangement of large bedrooms has many subtleties. Knowing how to furnish them, how to think over the interior design of huge bedrooms, you can avoid many mistakes and problems. It is necessary to choose a beautiful layout, deal with light and dark room options.

Layout

If you happen to acquire a room of a huge area in an apartment or house, it is advisable to equip a central zone in it. It is not cluttered with wardrobes and dressers. On an open area, only a maximum television stand is placed.

Additionally, there are:

  • a zone for morning and evening preparations;
  • working space;
  • vestibule (with wardrobe function);
  • bathroom.

A common mistake when drafting narrow large bedrooms is arranging furniture along the walls. It is much more correct to divide the space into 2 main sections. The rest and sleep area is clearly separated from the table and wardrobe.

It is worth considering that the arrangement of a bathroom in the bedroom is not always possible... This cannot be done if, according to the plan, no wet rooms are adjacent to it, or there is no permission from the management company.

The standard guidelines are:

  • avoid emptiness in the center of the room;
  • refuse an open dressing area;
  • avoid experimenting with unusual objects;
  • exclude an abundance of decor, decoration and furniture;
  • refuse to lower the ceiling to form multi-level highlighted niches.

Finishing options

You can often hear that only a small bedroom should be white or some other light color. However, this opinion is incorrect - a large room can also be designed in a similar way. Only a harmonious combination of different tones is required (no more than 2 or 3). It is recommended to make the walls lighter, and darker floors and furniture. To smooth out abrupt transitions, gray tones are useful.

Important rules:

  • apply several shades from a suitable palette;
  • give preference to green and blue colors;
  • wide stripes of different colors will look luxurious;
  • it is advisable to use more diluted shades so as not to put pressure on the psyche;
  • tinted white looks pretty interesting.

Regardless of the style and nuances of the approach, it is recommended that at least part of the space be trimmed with natural wood. High-end linoleum or laminate (in the budget version), parquet (in the premium version) are traditionally placed on the floor.

Despite the formal variety of finishes, the main choice has to be made between wallpaper and panels. Only in classical styles stucco molding and natural stone are appropriate. But, of course, you also need to be guided by your own taste.

Styles

A great approach to large bedroom design can involve the use of nautical style. This solution will appeal to those who prefer to combine white and blue paints. Since they can be intertwined in various ways, there is no question of any uniformity. The use of things "with history", decorated in appropriate motives, is encouraged. Modern technology and other fashionable decoration are quite acceptable, but it is better if they visually correspond to the idea; excessive grace is undesirable - it is better to focus on the state of elegant simplicity.

To decorate the interior of a bedroom, you can also use street style. Expressiveness and expressive brutality are typical for him. The furnishings will be decorated more authentically if you transfer into it some attributes of the real street (signs and traffic lights, but not only them). But it is worth noting that only trained designers can correctly design everything.

When choosing design ideas, you should also think about choosing a style. grunge... In its description, the main emphasis is on the effect of elegant casualness. Instead of smooth walls, emphatically raw brickwork is used, but it has a subtext not of an industrial way, as in the same loft, but of a kind of "sweet simplicity". The space should be designed as laconically and elegantly as possible. The required attributes will be:

  • beamed ceiling;
  • large windows;
  • natural, not too aggressive colors;
  • simple and concise design;
  • light color of the room in the upper part.

Style selection hygge means the need to actively use wood and emphasized rough textiles. The leitmotif of the atmosphere is calmness and regularity. Pure white should absolutely dominate. Pastel shades are also acceptable, but they play rather a subordinate role. On the walls, plaster of white and beige tones is appropriate; lighting is selected in such a way that the main design will play favorably.

Lovers of the traditional approach may like the style gzhel... The characteristic blue and white scenes immediately create a positive mood. But you need to understand that in the bedrooms this range is sometimes perceived too cool. She is able to create some unpleasant sensation.

Let furniture and textiles be appropriately decorated, but not the walls completely; the use of thoughtful decor will help to emphasize the idea.

You can show originality in the choice of a relatively rarely used Ottoman style. The doorway is made in the form of an arch. The walls should be decorated with niches, and the number of soft pillows is quite large. It's not worth chasing an authentic Old Turkish setting, giving up furniture. But decorative plates on the walls accentuate the main idea more than convincingly.

But the bedroom decorated in the spirit of steampunk... True, the arrangement will then require significant costs. No synthetic materials can be used in the decoration. Modern technology is purchased in an old-fashioned version (or ordered to visually alter it). The setting should evoke thoughts of the 19th century, but not in its traditional, but in its machine guise.

Not so cheap and shabby chic. Not every piece of furniture is suitable for him, but only one that is "elegantly worn". Dominated by milky or pure white colors. Other important features:

  • inadmissibility of bright colors and play on contrast;
  • faded view of the ceiling;
  • active use of stucco molding;
  • the use of old typefaces;
  • decoration is emphasized by expensive textiles;
  • wall decoration with white brickwork;
  • use for an accent on one of the walls of thematic photowall-paper;
  • rough linen furniture covers;
  • simple (no varnish) floor boards;
  • unlike Provence - the undesirability of massive products;
  • decorating the floor with natural carpets or mats;
  • lamps with beautiful (but not pretentious) lampshades.

How to furnish?

To properly equip a large bedroom, you need to use the following furniture:

  • poufs;
  • tables near the bed;
  • dressers;
  • cabinets.

The headboard is ideally placed against the wall. It's good if there are no openings in this wall. At least 10-15 cm should remain between the bed and the bedside table. When opening the cabinet doors, at least 70-80 cm should be left in the room between them and other objects. The mirror should be installed to your liking.

The bedroom is furnished taking into account the functionality of the interior. Only after determining its required exact composition and practical parameters. The sleeping place should not be located in the path of a draft. The double bed must be accessible from three sides. It is necessary to very carefully consider the choice between a simple wardrobe and a dressing area; both solutions have advantages and disadvantages.

Choosing decor and lighting

Empty monochrome walls will be more beautiful with murals. Before this, the surface is putty and primed. An alternative solution is to use a stencil drawing. If that doesn't seem like enough, an accent wall is a great solution. Other decor options are advised:

  • special plaster;
  • framing walls with embossed panels;
  • decorative brickwork or their imitation;
  • chic curtains "to the floor";
  • floor vases (not necessarily with flowers);
  • wall paintings and panels;
  • furniture with beautiful ornaments;
  • personal photographs.

The light in the bedroom should be versatile - this is a must... Lamps placed on bedside tables are classics of bedside lighting. Last but not least, wall lamps should not be ignored either. But in any case, both the stand and the area around the pendant lamp on the wall must be decorated as gracefully as possible. The height of the luminaire cannot be less than 40 cm - many people have already burned themselves by choosing lower models.

We must not forget about the light temperature - its optimal value is 3000 K... The illumination level must comply with hygienic standards. On the ceilings, it is recommended to install the latest generation lamps, covered with a shade. If you need a brighter light, you need to choose models with frosted glass.

Hanging appliances are commonly used to create a trendy setting.

Beautiful examples

  • A very good option is to combine a glossy floor and a glossy ceiling. Noble dark wall colors look good. The dark carpet will harmoniously fit into the interior.
  • The wood-colored floor combines perfectly with the light gray carpet. The classic furniture put on them is also included in the ensemble.
  • An excellent solution for a large bedroom is the illuminated podium floor. Chandeliers and lamps of unusual shapes are also welcome.
